Dr. Alistair Reese
Alistair lives with his wife Jeannie on a farm in Paengaroa, Bay of Plenty. He holds postgraduate degrees in Theology, History, and Tikanga Māori, and earned a PhD in Theology from the University of Auckland. His doctoral research focused on reconciliation and Pākehā identity, which has shaped his ongoing commitment to exploring an indigenous expression of Christianity within Aotearoa.
Alistair is deeply involved in both local and national reconciliation efforts between Māori and Pākehā, and his insights into faith, justice, and identity bring depth and compassion to his teaching.
Bradford Haami
Bradford is a lecturer in biculturalism at Laidlaw College and holds a Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Theology. As a preacher, teacher, author, and Māori cultural advisor, Bradford brings an extraordinary perspective on biculturalism and the role of the Māori church in today’s world.

What to Expect from the Spiritual Gifts & Battle Course
The Spiritual Gifts & Battle Course at Orama is designed to help participants understand the biblical foundation of spiritual gifts, how they function, and their role in engaging in spiritual warfare. Participants will explore the biblical foundation of spiritual gifts and spiritual warfare, identifying and activating spiritual gifts, engaging in spiritual warfare with faith and confidence and practical exercises and guided teachings.
As John Mark Comer highlights in his book Live No Lies:
“We are at war. Not with a foreign government or domestic terrorists or a creepy new artificial intelligence hell-bent on taking over the world. No, it’s a war we feel deep inside our own chests: we are at war with lies… The choice is not whether to fight or not fight, but whether we win or surrender.”
The Bible makes it clear that this battle is real, and we have been given spiritual gifts as weapons to fight it. This five-day course will delve into these gifts, their practical application, and how to function in them with confidence and faith.

The Power of Taking a Break
We often underestimate the impact of constantly being ‘switched on.’ Our minds and bodies need time to reset, yet many of us push through exhaustion, believing that rest is a luxury rather than a necessity. Research has shown that intentional breaks improve focus, reduce stress, and enhance overall mental and emotional health.
A retreat offers a structured environment designed for rest. Unlike a standard holiday, where planning, logistics, and decision-making can still be exhausting, a retreat provides a seamless experience where every detail is taken care of for you.
