What Is The Story of God in Aotearoa Course?
This course has been designed to help participants explore the spiritual narrative of New Zealand. Through powerful teaching, historical insight, and meaningful discussion, attendees will gain a clearer picture of how Christianity has shaped and been shaped by the story of Aotearoa.
You’ll learn about pivotal moments in our nation’s faith journey, hear the voices of those who have carried the Gospel through times of conflict and reconciliation, and reflect on what God is doing in our communities today.
Importantly, The Story of God in Aotearoa is not just about history it’s about healing, identity, and hope for the future. This course aims to stir the heart, engage the mind, and inspire a deeper relationship with both God and the people of this land.
Meet the Speakers
We are honoured to welcome two incredible leaders who bring a wealth of knowledge, faith, and lived experience to this course.
Dr. Alistair Reese
Alistair lives with his wife Jeannie on a farm in Paengaroa, Bay of Plenty. He holds postgraduate degrees in Theology, History, and Tikanga Māori, and earned a PhD in Theology from the University of Auckland. His doctoral research focused on reconciliation and Pākehā identity, which has shaped his ongoing commitment to exploring an indigenous expression of Christianity within Aotearoa.
Alistair is deeply involved in both local and national reconciliation efforts between Māori and Pākehā, and his insights into faith, justice, and identity bring depth and compassion to his teaching.
Bradford Haami
Bradford is a lecturer in biculturalism at Laidlaw College and holds a Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Theology. As a preacher, teacher, author, and Māori cultural advisor, Bradford brings an extraordinary perspective on biculturalism and the role of the Māori church in today’s world.
He has led Māori intercession teams internationally, contributed to critically acclaimed films such as Mahana, and served as a consultant for various cultural institutions and churches. His passion for authentic faith expression, storytelling, and spiritual renewal makes him a compelling voice for this generation.
Together, Alistair and Bradford will guide participants through The Story of God in Aotearoa, weaving theology, history, and lived experience into a powerful, transformative experience.
