Refresh Women’s Retreat

A 3-night rejuvenating getaway - Relaxation in a breathtaking location.…

This 3-night retreat will be hosted at Orama on Aotea, Great Barrier Island. We will take care of everything:

  • Book your Flights

  • Pick you up from Claris Airport and drop you off

  • Our Chefs will cook you delicious meals

  • Your accommodation will be ready for you to unpack and relax

We are a paradise away from the hurry and hectic of mainland life, where nature surrounds, the water is on our doorstep, the Kākā and Tūi chortle in the trees, the hiking trails begin and most importantly, where rest comes easily.

We know that, as women, the treadmill called life can be challenging. Amongst the hustle of family, work, church, ministry, friends and commitments, there can be a deep struggle to keep up and keep going and an even deeper need for genuine connection with others and with God.

Refresh Women's Retreat is an opportunity to pour back into you. A chance to rest in the presence of God, into the refreshing of nature, and the lifting of new and old friends and fun experiences.

We know that God is faithful and His heart is for us.

Our prayer is that Refresh Women's Retreat would be a gift of stepping away for a long weekend, and when you return you are Refreshed and ready for your real world

  • Refresh Women's Retreat will be hosted at Orama on Aotea, Great Barrier Island.
We are a paradise away from the hurry and hectic of mainland life, where nature surrounds, the water is on our doorstep, the Kākā and Tūi chortle in the trees, the hiking trails begin and most importantly where rest comes easily.

At Refresh there will be opportunities both for rest and recreation along with times for restoration in worship and communion with God and other women.

    • The Woolshed Art studio with inspiration and assistance from some of our Orama artists

    • A peaceful paddleboard or kayak around the bay at sunset, or a snorkel if you're keen

    • A blat on the boat and see some of Aotea's stunning coastline from the water

    • Soak in a hot tub on the waterfront

    • S'mores and conversation around the campfire

    • Worship and prayer in the lounge

    • Learning to hear and journal the voice of God speaking to you

  • Fishing - Grab a rod, or bring your own with you. The exhilaration of pulling up a snapper or kahawai or bring a spear and get yourself a Kingi?? Mmmmm - doesn't get much fresher than straight out of the sea!

Kayaks, Paddleboards, Snorkel and Masks - There's something undeniably awesome about navigating around the rugged coastline or diving into the underwater world of our stunning bay. Definitely an opportunity not to be missed.

Soak in our hot tub - The ultimate addition to relaxation at Orama. Our wood-fired hot tub is perfect for unwinding. Imagine yourself under the stars in our Dark Sky Sanctuary, taking it all in. You won't want to miss this.

Brazier/Campfire - Nothing beats the classic experience of making s'mores around a campfire. If the weather's not cooperating, our lodge lounge has the cosiest fireplace around. And if you're in the mood for a movie, we've got you covered there too.

Hiking trails - There are numerous short hikes right from Orama. The Orama lookout is always a crowd favourite - overlooking Little Barrier and the Hauraki Gulf. From there, you could then carry on down to Onewhero Bay, a beautiful sandy beach with the biggest Pohutukawa you've ever seen. Or, on the other side of Orama, walk to the Glenfern Bird Sanctuary with stunning native bush, a swing bridge to a huge Kauri tree and a viewing platform over the gully. Windy Canyon is slightly further away from Orama, but definitely worth the effort. A jaw-dropping walk - even if you only have 5 minutes!

Chapel -Up on the hill overlooking the bay. A wee haven for prayer and contemplation. A quiet space for you to spend time in a way that best suits you with God.
