Understanding Gracepoint

Gracepoint is a new wellbeing organisation created in response to the growing pressure many New Zealanders face. It has been launched by Orama, drawing on Orama’s long history of care and community, yet Gracepoint operates as its own independent entity. This structure allows Gracepoint to focus fully on wellbeing programmes while still being supported by Orama’s experience and unique environment on Great Barrier Island.

Gracepoint exists to help people who feel worn out from meeting the needs of others or pushing themselves for too long. Many carers and leaders know what it feels like to keep going even when they have nothing left. Gracepoint aims to give these people the space, support, and tools they need to rest, recover, and find strength again. The organisation brings together counselling, reflective practice, and community support in a setting that helps people slow down and step away from daily pressure.

Gracepoint will welcome its first participants in early 2026, with applications now open for its two foundation programmes, Care for Carers and Burnout Recovery.

Care for Carers Programme

The Care for Carers programme focuses on people who give much of their time and energy to care for someone else. This may be a family member with a disability, a loved one living with a long-term condition, or someone facing emotional hardship. Carers often keep going without a break because the needs around them feel constant. Many describe feeling tired, overwhelmed, or isolated, yet they continue out of love and duty.

Gracepoint has designed this programme to meet these challenges in a practical and compassionate way. Participants take part in guided reflection, counselling sessions, and structured support that helps them explore the unseen emotional toll of caring. They also get the chance to rest, reconnect with their own identity, and rebuild resilience. The peaceful setting at Orama plays an important role, giving carers the space to breathe and reflect in a place free from their everyday responsibilities.

The programme helps carers understand their limits, develop healthy rhythms, and build confidence in their ability to continue caring without sacrificing their own wellbeing.

Burnout Recovery Programme

The Burnout Recovery Programme supports people facing exhaustion, pressure, and disconnection from work or life. This includes professionals, leaders, business owners, teachers, healthcare workers, and many others who carry heavy loads. Burnout does not appear overnight. It often builds slowly through constant demands, long hours, and rising responsibilities.

Gracepoint designed this programme using evidence based strategies and trusted wellbeing tools. Participants engage in counselling, reflective exercises, and practical steps that support both emotional and mental recovery. The programme helps people recover balance, understand the causes of their fatigue, and reconnect with the meaning behind their work and relationships.

By spending time away from daily demands, people can reset and gain clarity about the changes needed to live in a healthier and more sustainable way. The supportive environment at Orama helps them reconnect with purpose and return home with renewed strength.

The Gracepoint Fund

Gracepoint operates as a not for profit organisation that relies on the generosity of others to make its work possible. Many people who need help face financial pressure at the same time, so the Gracepoint Fund exists to make sure cost does not stop someone from seeking recovery.

The fund provides financial support for individuals, couples, and families who want to attend a programme but cannot fully cover the cost. Grants can partially or fully fund someone’s place, giving them the chance to focus on their wellbeing without added stress. Donations also help Gracepoint keep its programmes affordable and allow the team to support more people each year.

Gracepoint welcomes donations from individuals, community groups, churches, and organisations who want to support the wellbeing of carers and those facing burnout. Every contribution helps someone access care when they need it most.

A Path Toward Recovery

Gracepoint exists to give people a place where recovery is possible. The combination of professional care, community support, and the quiet environment of Great Barrier Island makes these programmes a meaningful step toward long-term wellbeing. For anyone who feels stretched beyond their limits, the early 2026 intake offers a chance to rest, rebuild, and find new strength for the journey ahead.

Applications for both programmes are now open at www.gracepoint.co.nz.
