Introduction

“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matt 6:21)

What truly has my attention?

If we’re brutally honest, what is it that we most value?
What is it that captures us?

What takes up our time, attention, energy, and planning?
What fills our thoughts, even when we’re not trying to think about it?
What are we investing our resources into?

These are the things that reveal what we truly treasure.

The direction of my life

What I truly value will ultimately be what propels my life. It is the rudder in my boat, it sets the direction of where I’m heading.

My heart is the very core of who I am, the centre of my will.
Which means what I truly value in that place, deep within me, will shape my decisions, my priorities, and my path.

In the end, it will reveal who or what I’m bowing my knee to.

What my heart is aligned to

My heart, and therefore my allegiance, will always follow what I most treasure.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart.” (Ps 139:23)

Help me, Lord, to truly see what I most value. Because You are clear, what I treasure is setting the course of my life and shaping what I am becoming.
